Project Management Professional (PMP) is an internationally recognized certification provided by the Project Management Institute (PMI). PMP focuses on equipping individuals with skills in managing projects effectively. How Can I Get PMP Certification in Uganda?

To get a PMP certification in Uganda you must meet one of the following requirements:

  • A four-year bachelor’s degree accompanied by three years in project management experience and 35 hours of project management education or CAPM certification.
  • A High School Diploma or an Associates degree accompanied by five years of project management experience and 35 hours of project management education or CAPM certification.

Cost of PMP in Uganda

The cost of training in Uganda varies for each institution depending on the course duration and the mode of learning. It ranges between 1,489,412 UGX and 5,585,295 UGX.

Additionally, the cost of the exam is approximately USD 405 (1,508,030 UGX) for PMI members and 555 ( 2,066,560 UGX) for non-members.

Is PMP Useful Without a Degree?

PMP is useful even if you have not attained a degree. One of the requirements of attaining a certification excludes the option of having a degree as long as you have five years or more of project management experience. Employers value individuals who have experience and having a PMP certification is a solid proof that you are an experienced project manager.

Will a PMP Certification Increase my Salary?

A PMP certification may increase your salary depending on which company or organization you are working for. Some companies promote PMP holders hence giving them a chance to earn a higher salary while others increase your salary even without a promotion.

How Many Stages Is PMP Exam?

The PMP exam has three domains which include:

  • People: Tests leadership and management skills that you require to lead a team effectively.

  • Business Environment: Tests internal and external organizational context that influence project management.

Types of PMP Exam Questions

The types of questions you will encounter during the exam include:

  • Multiple-choice: You are given four choices to select one correct answer.
  • Multiple-response: You have to select more than one answer from a set of choices.
  • Matching questions: Involves aligning items from one column with items on another one.
  • Hotspot: Click on a graphic to select your answer.
  • Drag and drop: Involves dragging items and placing them at their correct spot.
  • Fill-in-the-blanks: you have to fill missing information.

Is the PMP Exam Hard?

The PMP exam is difficult. This is because it focuses on how you can apply what you’ve learnt in the PMBOK Guide in real life situations. It also tests your ability to describe concepts presented in the guide correctly.

However, it is not impossible to pass the exam. Ensure that you prepare well for the exam by studying the PMBOK properly and also revise test papers so that you are familiar with the exam.
